 Meet our Staff

Dr. Sharon J. Powell received her Doctorate from Kansas State University in 1990 after receiving her dual undergraduate Bachelors Degrees in Microbiology & Cell Science and Animal Science from the University of Florida. In 1992, she returned to Florida to join the practice her father, Dr. Vercil F. Senseman, established in March 1963.
Dr. Powell has an identical twin sister who is also a Florida veterinarian and another sister who works as a Certified Veterinary Technician at North Shore Animal Hospital. Her mother, Ann, still works at the clinic everyday and makes sure the integrity and standards of North Shore Animal Hospital are the same today as they were in the early years.
While working in Oklahoma City, Dr. Powell met her husband, Jonny. They live in Fort Myers with their 3 dogs, Robbie, Norman, and Sero.
Dr. Sharon is actively involved in community services including the Save Our Pets program through the Harry Chapin Food Bank.

Hello from Ann. Dr. Vercil Senseman and I opened North Shore Animal Hospital on March 3, 1963. In addition to doing the bookkeeping for the hospital, I raised five children, graduated from Edison College School of Nursing, and worked at the "people" hospital for 15 years. North Shore is still an important part of my life, and the care of your pets is our main concern.

My name is Mackenzie and although I just recently started working at North Shore Animal Hospital, I have brought my pets here all my life. I have always been an animal lover and currently have 2 dogs of my own. I am enrolled at Edison State College working towards my associates. I love to help people, enjoy being around animals and I am eager to learn new things.

Pin. named Peanut who's an avid sailor. I plan to continue caring for animals as long as possible.
