North Shore Animal Hospital provides medical, diagnostic, surgical, and preventive health care needs for your small animal companion through out all stages of their life.
We carry a wide variety of flea, tick and heartworm preventives for both dogs and cats. Our staff is able to discuss with you preventive health care needs, proper use of each product and recommend only products that are best suited for your pet based on their environment, life-style and risk of exposure. You will find these products to be very competitive with those available from on-line pharmacies.
At North Shore, our veterinarians recommend only preventive vaccinations that are in your companion animals best interest based on information currently available. We do not advocate over-vaccination but we do recommend specific core vaccinations for most pets. We use a 3-year Rabies vaccination for dogs and cats at our clinic and we carry the new Canine Influenza vaccination (H3N8) for dogs whose life-style may pose a risk for exposure to this serious disease.
North Shore Animal Hospital has an In-Hospital laboratory allowing bloodwork testing for specific diseases such as heartworms, feline leukemia, feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV), common tick-borne diseases including Lymes disease, common intestinal parasites (worms), and thyroid diseases. In our lab, we also can perform tests to check for anemias, infections, liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, pancreatic diseases, electrolyte imbalances and urinary diseases, to name only a few. Most of these test results are available in just a few minutes.
With the enlisted services of an off-site complete veterinary laboratory, we are also able to provide many more diagnostic services, including testing your pet for MRSA infections, H1N1 infections, bacterial cultures, and so much more. The turn-around time for most tests is only a few days.
Our on-site diagnostic equipment can check your pet for high blood pressure, glaucoma testing, and dry eye testing. We are also able to perform radiographs (X-rays) and EKG's. Ultrasounds can be performed in our clinic by a Veterinary Specialist.
On the occasion that your pets health concerns requires the expertise of a veterinary specialist, North Shore Animal Hospital's veterinarians maintain a close referral relationship with area Board Certified Veterinary Specialists. Just as our own personal health care may need the assistance of a specialist, we offer the same optimal care for your loved companion. Specialists that are available to assist patients from North Shore Animal Hospital include veterinary surgeons, veterinary cardiologist, veterinary dermatologist, veterinary dentist, veterinary oncologists, veterinary ophthalmologists, veterinary internist, veterinary behaviorist, and a veterinary neurologist.
At North Shore Animal Hospital, we only recommend what we believe is in your pets best interest and we strive to be the best advocate for your pets health care.
As an extension to our hospital services, we recommend Animal ER at Merchant's Crossing Plaza in N. Fort Myers at 995-7755 for all after-hour, weekend, and holiday emergency service needs. |
